Devon Gerst Response to Paola Antonelli: Treat design as art

I though Paola got her point across very well, she was being sophisticated without the presentation flying over your head. In a way she is right, people don't truly understand the meaning of a "designer." One quote I enjoyed was "I want people to understand that design is so much more than cute chairs, that it is first and foremost everything  that is around us in our lives." I feel that most people believe that they can "design" something very easily, and that is true, but was it designed well? A good design takes time and effort to find, sadly people underestimate us, they just don't truly understand the work that went into it. In my eyes there are 2 types of people: those that do and those that don't. Those that do, get stuff done and follow their dreams and passions and create their life around them. Those that don't, sit around and hope that life will come to them. Which do you think are more successful? After watching Paola's presentation, I obviously think that the ones that do will obviously get the better end of the deal we call life, because they take life by the horns and take it on full force.
