Mission Statement: All the kings cars restoration

We are a classic american muscle car restoration company. What we hope to do in our car garage is help all those out there that share our love for classic cars. We hope to expand into a large company, but still have a positive impact in the communities we are in. We want to have a medium profit margin, just enough to expand in the growing economy, but not too much that it goes to our head. We appeal to all classic car lovers and even some more modern car owners, but the older the better. We will always try our hardest, even if we have to build parts ourself. Our company slogan is: "We will give an arm and a sparkplug." Meaning that we will go to any length to fix your car. If we ever have a problem with getting a part we will direct you to a garage that can fix your car. If we have your car more than 2 days later than the quoted date, we will take 10% off the whole job price. We want to help you, but we also don't want to overwork our employees, hat is why we give them plenty of breaks and benefits.

Devon Gerst Response to Paola Antonelli: Treat design as art

I though Paola got her point across very well, she was being sophisticated without the presentation flying over your head. In a way she is right, people don't truly understand the meaning of a "designer." One quote I enjoyed was "I want people to understand that design is so much more than cute chairs, that it is first and foremost everything  that is around us in our lives." I feel that most people believe that they can "design" something very easily, and that is true, but was it designed well? A good design takes time and effort to find, sadly people underestimate us, they just don't truly understand the work that went into it. In my eyes there are 2 types of people: those that do and those that don't. Those that do, get stuff done and follow their dreams and passions and create their life around them. Those that don't, sit around and hope that life will come to them. Which do you think are more successful? After watching Paola's presentation, I obviously think that the ones that do will obviously get the better end of the deal we call life, because they take life by the horns and take it on full force.
Devon Gerst Response to Niels Diffrient: Rethinking the Way We Sit Down

To think that a love for planes could take a man on such a journey through life. From aeronautics to furniture, Niels Diffrient has gone through many trials and errors to get to where he is now. His story reminds myself of my hardships. I started off going through life loving music and I've always wanted to be a musician. As I went further through life I found how hard it was to be noticed, but its thanks to music that I found that I wanted to do something that I can put my own little touch on. When I finally made it to high school I took a graphic design class, and then it hit me, this is what I want to do! Same goes for Niels Diffrient in the sense that through life experiences he found something that he would want to do for the rest of his working days, being an industrial designer. Overall, he really hit home with a relatable story that anyone who has had doubts can understand. He went through life searching for a career and eventually all his experiences led up to something he truly enjoys, and I feel like that should be everyone's goal.

How to Ruin a Great Design Response

Response to “How to Ruin a Great Design”
When I was about to read this article I thought to myself, this is just going to be another bland writing for someone to rant about how most designs are too flashy and hard to understand, but after reading it, I thought it was actually well written and somewhat true. The example of UPS was excellent because most people who will read this will know about when UPS changed their logo from the “present box” to the current one we know today. I personally enjoy the “present box” logo UPS used to have, it was subliminal messaging at its finest. It was simple, had meaning, and was obvious enough to understand.
I agree with some of Alice Rawsthorn’s claims, including, that some logos are starting to lose their meaning and becoming impractical. Take the animal planet logo for example, the original logo, in my eyes, was much better than the current one. The original logo had a silhouette of an elephant holding up to what looks to be a globe, while the new one is just the channel’s name in different fonts and sizes. Sure, the new logo is fresh and cool, but there is no meaning behind it. The original logo was much better since it explained the channel’s shows within the picture. In conclusion, Alice Rawsthorn’s article was a great read, and in many ways, factual about what today’s logos and signs are becoming, less meaningful.

Q&A 9/2/16 1st day of class.

Q: What is your computer experience?
A: I have plenty of computer experience considering I participate in PC Gaming and build towers.

Q: What is your experience with Photoshop and Illustrator?
A: I have collectively 5 years of Photoshop and Illustrator experience as well as 4 years of Correl Draw.

Q: Do you have a computer at home? If so dose it have Photoshop and Illustrator?
A: Yes, I do own a laptop at home and about to get a new tower. I do not own Photoshop or Illustrator, but I am about to change that very soon.

Q: What is your major?
A: My current major is Computer Graphics, and I hope to attend a 4 years university after my years at CCC.

Q: What do you hope to get out of this class?
A: I hope to get a feel for the classes at CCC and hopefully elevate my work to professional level.

Q: Who is your favorite artist?
A: I consider Banksy and early Shepard Fairey (Andre the Giant) to be artists, even though that some people do not agree with their manner of publicizing it. I feel like their art is complex and has great meaning for their background and others who see it.

Q: Who is your favorite musician?
A: My favorite musician has to be Kurt Cobain. I just enjoy grunge/metal music but Nirvana is a band that speaks to me well.

Q: Tell me something interesting about yourself.
A: I graduated top 25% of my high school class. I also tend to understand certain things faster than others, even though I do suffer from the disorder, Asperger Syndrome.

Q: Write a five line story.
A: It was an ominous morning, and the sun refused to show. Something weird was going on and no one has the slightest idea what. Everyone rushed outside to see thunder and lightning. Then they all understood that the apocalypse was coming. One one could run, they cowered in fear. They waited for for their inevitable fate to live in despair. Townspeople cried "I don't understand how could this happen!" But then our hero woke up, he had a terrible nightmare.
